One component of a larger master plan that we prepared for the Slater Mill Museum was the renovation of the under-utilized second floor of the 18th century mill building to accommodate the new Jencks Education Center. Sensitive to the building as an artifact in itself, no heavy permanent walls were used, rather space was organized using free standing cabinets that could expand and contract to divide the space as needed. A former storage room was opened up and re-purposed as a dramatic conference space with views overlooking the water fall on the Blackstone River.
